Sena Owereko is a multilingual, award-winning facilitator, and senior leader with over two decades of experience in workforce development, higher education, and adult learner advising services. As Vice President of Marketing & Communications at Graduate Philadelphia, she is a lead orchestrator of the organization’s storytelling, brand strategy, and organizational reach – amplifying its mission to help adults complete postsecondary credentials and drive inclusive growth in the region.

Sena’s career spans impactful roles at Drexel University, Saint Joseph’s University, Schools Without Borders, and the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), where she directed client relations for employers and national career services tailored to adult learners. She is a co-author behind the Career Integrated Learning Advising (CILA) framework, which bridges education and careers for adult learners. As a lead training specialist, she has helped to train thousands of advisors and higher education professionals in advising best practices and designing effective learner support systems for academic and career resilience. Her work has helped adults return to college, earn degrees, launch sustainable careers, and bolster the success of their families.

Sena’s expertise and thought leadership have been featured in several high-profile platforms. At Exude, Inc. she authored insights on inclusive leadership and its power to drive organizational change. She co-authored a powerful perspective on access in higher education for the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, and was interviewed on the podcast Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Talent about transforming outcomes for adult learners. In a widely circulated CAEL article, she explored the unique challenges and opportunities in advising international students navigating the U.S. higher education system. Sena was also profiled in FunTimes Magazine as one of the African diaspora’s most influential women, celebrating her impact as a proud mother, mentor, and changemaker.

Her unique value lies in her ability to connect diverse stakeholders—learners, institutions, employers, community partners, and funders—around a shared vision.

Sena earned both a M.S. in Training & Organizational Development (concentration in

Adult Learning) and a B.A. in International Relations from Saint Joseph’s University (PA). Her

education and training includes a Career and Education Advising certificate from CAEL, a certificate in Marketing Strategies for Business Leaders from Cornell University, a certificate in Design Thinking and Innovation from Harvard Business School, as well as a certificate in Board Leadership & Governance from DiverseForce on Boards and the University of Pennsylvania. Sena also holds Diversity Management Certification (DMC), Corporate Trainer Certification (CTC), Change Management Specialist Certification (CMSC), and Strategic

Organizational Leadership designations and is a certified Self-Aware Leader (SAL) facilitator.
