There are new names and faces in Philadelphia. Residents of the Greater Philadelphia region are being reintroduced to the Philadelphia Multi-University Center recently launched at the Mellon Independence Center at 8th and Market Streets.
The Philadelphia Multi-University Center is now named PASSHE Center City. PASSHE Center City is a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) state-of-the-art higher education facility which offers an array of educational programs from multiple PASSHE universities—Cheyney, East Stroudsburg, Millersville and West Chester Universities— in one convenient location. A city-wide public awareness campaign has been launched to promote the center and will be featured in locations which are frequented by individuals living and working in the Greater Philadelphia metro area who are interested in completing their undergraduate degree, pursuing a graduate degree or seeking to further their skills.
The public awareness campaign comes on the heels of a brand overhaul which includes the renaming of the center as well as a logo redesign; and will include the implementation of interior and exterior branding signage at the Mellon Independence Center. The PASSHE Center City brand overhaul is more than just a logo; it is a new design scheme composed to create a distinctive look and feel that makes PASSHE Center City’s brand instantly recognizable, while creating an overall, cohesive look between the center and the universities it partners with. PASSHE Center City’s brand identity represents the strong commitment it has to the community and its mission of making education accessible to the adult learners in the Philadelphia area.
“Our Administration is committed to increasing the number of Philadelphians with a college degree. With its convenient and affordable approach to higher education, PASSHE Center City is a critical asset for Philadelphia’s adult learners and an invaluable resource to prepare our workforce for the 21st century economy,” said Mayor Michael A. Nutter.
Academic offerings at PASSHE Center City are responsive to the needs of adult learners who are employed full-time or have other scheduling demands. Most courses take place during weekday evenings and on Saturdays. Based on similar State System facilities in Harrisburg, Cranberry Township and Bethlehem, PASSHE Center City is the most recent evidence of a strategic goal of the PA State System of Higher Education to bring affordable options to underserved areas. These centers allow students to access an impressive array of academic programs while balancing work, personal lives, and other time commitments in today’s busy world.
