Many of Memphis’ economic challenges relate to our relatively low percentage of college graduates in the population. In today’s economy workers without a degree will it difficult to land a job with earning power. Beyond the individual, the city itself suffers when competing to land industries and corporate relocations; Memphis can’t compete on a level play field with cities that have a larger, more educated workforce.
